Economic Justice NOW

Introducing the Economic Justice NOW Campaign: Advancing Fair Wages and Workplace Rights in 2025

The fight for economic equality has never been more critical. The Austin Chapter of the National Organization for Women (Austin NOW) is launching the Economic Justice Campaign for 2025, dedicated to addressing the deep-seated economic inequalities that disproportionately affect women and marginalized communities. By focusing on legislative advocacy, public education, and coalition-building, we aim to create lasting change that uplifts everyone, particularly those who have been left behind by current economic systems.

Our Vision: Fair Wages, Equal Rights, and Economic Opportunity for All

The Economic Justice Campaign NOW is committed to tackling systemic barriers and pushing for economic policies that ensure equal opportunities in the workplace and beyond. Whether it’s advocating for pay equity, supporting workers’ rights, or promoting financial literacy, our campaign is built on a foundation of action and accountability.

Our Key Goals Include:

  1. Public Education on Economic Inequality:

    • We will raise awareness about the persistent wage gaps, workplace discrimination, and the economic impact of current policies on marginalized communities. Through infographics, social media posts, and community events, we aim to educate the public and spark dialogue about the importance of economic justice.

  2. Advocate for Fair Wage Legislation:

    • Our legislative team will work tirelessly to support and lobby for fair wage policies, including pay equity, minimum wage increases, and paid family leave. We believe everyone deserves a living wage, regardless of their gender, race, or socioeconomic status.

  3. Support Workers’ Rights:

    • We will partner with labor unions, workplace advocacy groups, and local organizations to promote anti-discrimination protections and ensure fair treatment in the workplace. This includes advocating for better working conditions, job security, and stronger protections against harassment and wage theft.

  4. Host Educational Workshops:

    • We plan to organize workshops focused on financial literacy, wage negotiation, and understanding workplace rights. These sessions will empower individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to advocate for themselves and make informed financial decisions.

  5. Monitor Campaign Impact:

    • Throughout the year, we will track our progress, provide regular updates, and report on our legislative wins, community outreach efforts, and partnerships. Transparency and accountability are key components of our strategy to ensure meaningful impact.

2025 Program Timeline: Milestones to Track Our Progress

We’ve structured our campaign into quarterly milestones to ensure we make meaningful strides throughout the year:

  • Quarter 1 (January – March): Launch the Economic Justice Campaign with a focus on public education. Host an opening webinar on wage inequality and begin outreach to form partnerships with labor unions and advocacy groups.

  • Quarter 2 (April – June): Organize a National Day of Action for Equal Pay, advocating for local and state wage equity policies. We will also kick off a letter-writing campaign to lobby for paid family leave legislation.

  • Quarter 3 (July – September): Expand our financial literacy workshop series, partnering with community organizations to offer resources on wage negotiation, budgeting, and investment basics.

  • Quarter 4 (October – December): Conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the campaign’s progress. Host a final event to celebrate our achievements, thank our partners and volunteers, and prepare a detailed year-end report.

Expected Outcomes: Building Momentum for Change

By the end of 2025, we aim to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Increased Public Awareness: Greater understanding of wage gaps, workplace discrimination, and the economic policies affecting marginalized communities.

  • Strengthened Partnerships: Strong alliances with labor unions, workplace advocacy groups, and community organizations, amplifying our collective impact.

  • Legislative Wins: Successful advocacy for wage equity, paid family leave, and stronger anti-discrimination protections for workers.
